Add a dog-friendly place

VeraTails is built from OpenStreetMap, so adding a place there adds it here — and to every other app that uses the map. It takes a couple of minutes and a free account.

  1. Go to openstreetmap.org, sign up (free), and zoom in on the restaurant, café or bar.
  2. Click Edit. Select the place if it's already on the map, or add it as a new point.
  3. In the tags, add dog=yes (dogs welcome), dog=leashed (on a leash) ordog=outside (patio only). If it has outdoor tables, add outdoor_seating=yes too.
  4. Save with a short note like “Dog policy confirmed in person”.

VeraTails refreshes its listings regularly, so your place will appear after the next update.

Please only add what you know first-hand — a sign on the door, the staff, or the venue's own website. Never copy listings from other directories or review sites; that data isn't free to reuse.

Fixing an existing listing

Every place page has a “Fix it on OpenStreetMap” link that opens the right spot in the map editor. Change thedog tag (or remove it if dogs aren't allowed any more) and save.
